An Exclusive MoU with Townsville City Council to investigate the Financial
Viability of building a 15GWh Battery manufacturing plant in Townsville has
been signed with Boston Energy and Innovation (BEI) led Consortium.
The construction of a 15GWh manufacturing plant has the ability to
revolutionise Energy storage in Townsville and its sustainable production. This is
a strategic step for Australia to be a world leader on the battery frontier and to
ensure energy security.

Once in full production the 15GWh manufacturing facility can produce either 250,000 car batteries per annum (up to 400kms range) or one million home battery units or support 300 microgrids to power small towns.
The project will also have tremendous benefits to Australia with up to 1000
direct jobs in the manufacturing facility and an additional 1000 new jobs in the
direct support businesses with up to 5000 new jobs in downstream original
equipment manufacturing.
The BEI consortium includes:
- Magnis Resources Limited
- Eastman Kodak Company
- C4V incorporated
- C&D Assembly Incorporated
Magnis Resources, will be providing anode materials and technologies using its high-quality graphite.
Eastman Kodak and C4V, a knowledge company possessing critical insight
related to optimum performance of lithium ion batteries will provide the
cathode material and manufacturing expertise.
C&D Assembly, Inc. will provide the Lithium-ion battery management systems.
